Sculptural Bus Stop

By Nishant Kumar

A simple and easily implementable idea, the “Sculptural Bus Stop” involves using old and redundant bus bodies to create new cost-effective bus stops all across Delhi. These bus stops would also commemorate the years of “service” put in by the bus on Delhi roads before being recycled. Key features of the bus stop would include windows being used as slots for ad hoardings, tyres and glass being used for seating, a mirror on the side to see oncoming buses and a pay phone inside the bus stop for waiting passengers. The contestant had also identified precincts within Delhi where these bus stops could be easily set up. These included Mandi Hous and ITO in Central Delhi, Delhi University in north and Maharani Bagh and South Extension in South Delhi.
