Urban Museum Collaboration

By Swati Gupta

“Urban Museum Collaboration” is an idea about reviving the old textile mills of Delhi from their present state of redundancy. The project identifies 10 precincts in North Delhi with as potential sites to be revived. The project proposes reviving these zones by creating cultural hubs with museums, cinemas, seminar halls, etc. along with smaller commercial areas which would hold offices of creative agencies and textile mills, etc. The 10 precincts considered under the project would include Roshanara Road to be developed as a “street art gallery” for cinema poster painters, Old Sabzi Mandi and Malkaganj market, Jaipuria Mills to be revived as a cultural museum, a small site for a school, Nagia Park Market, Birla Mills Residential Quarters, Shakti Nagar Chowk, Birla Mills site, Amba Cinemas complex for entertainment, Roshanara Bagh for cultural regeration and Ghanta Ghar.
